September
3-12th: The Vermont State Fair - Rutland, VT
When the Vermont State Fair began in 1846, it had a large agricultural background. Today's offerings include cattle, sheep, goat and horse shows in addition to helicopter rides, performances by some of Nashville's top musicians, a Demolition Derby, Monster Trucks and over 30 amusement park rides and games.

4-5th: The 16th Annual Mount Snow Brewers Festival - West Dover, VT
The Mount Snow Brewers Festival has become famous for its great beer, great music, fun crowds, and good times. This year's festival will host over 20 breweries on Saturday and Sunday, with beer pairing dinners, cooking demonstrations and musical performances as well. Attending breweries include: Magic Hat, Long Trail, Harpoon, Allagash, North Coast, Berkshire Brewing Company, Smuttynose, Rock Art, Stoudt's, Stone, Red Hook, Anheuser-Busch, Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Pennichuck, Woodchuck Cider, Otter Creek, Wolaver's, Saranac, Olde Burnside Brewing Co, Brooklyn Brewing Co, and DogFish Head.

10-12th: First Annual Mini Cooper Rally through Okemo Valley - Ludlow, VT
Join the fun in your Mini Cooper on a scavenger hunt through the Okemo Valley Vermont Towns of Ludlow, Weston, Chester, Cavendish, Plymouth, and Mount Holly. On the way your map will tell you the places to stop and find the clue, get your entry form stamped & collect your mini-prize at each participating location. Event T shirts! Kick-off breakfast on Sat 12th at Fletcher Farm School.

18th: Plymouth Cheese and Harvest Festival - Plymouth Notch, VT
Celebrate the bounties of the harvest and the award-winning world of Vermont-made cheese at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site! Cheese sampling by members of the Vermont Cheese Council and guided tours of the Plymouth Cheese Factory; wagon rides, historic farm & craft demonstrations, cheese recipe contest, barbecue, and other activities for the entire family. 18-19th: Fall Craft Festival on the Green - Chester, VT
Over 60 Vermont & New England crafters & artisans show and sell their creations in one of Vermont's most picturesque fall settings! Historic and beautiful Chester, Vermont sets the stage for this glorious event. Food vendors, non-profit displays, and music round out this weekend of fun!

18-26th: Puppets in the Green Mountains 2010 - Putney, VT
Sandglass Theater hosts an international festival of puppet theater. This year's festival features companies from Spain, France, Germany, Hungary, and all over the US, performing in 5 towns in southeastern Vermont. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy the ingenious and varied art of puppet theater. Sandglass founders and world-renowned puppeteers Eric Bass and Ines Zeller Bass recently received Vermont's highest honor in the arts, the Governor's Award for Excellence.

24-26th: Third Annual Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival - West Dover, VT
Set amidst the world-renowned Vermont fall foliage, attendees will discover the products of Vermont vintners, specialty food producers, painters, publishers, cheese makers, artists and craftspeople. The 2010 weekend-long festival will feature authentic Vermont experiences including a historic downtown Wilmington welcome reception, Indigenous Vermonter breakfasts, a series of wine pairing dinners at the Mount Snow Valley's finest eateries and a series of Vermont chef demonstrations.

25-26th: The Seventh Annual Fine Furniture and Woodworking Festival - Woodstock, VT
Visit with fine furniture makers and wood artisans, view live demonstrations and presentations and peruse the best of Vermont's wood products for sale. In addition, the festival will include hands-on activities for children, live music and food by local caterers.

27 - October 3rd: Big Buzz Chainsaw Carving Festival - Chester, VT
Chainsaw Carvers from around the country gather to show their skills for this week long event. Carvers work as a team on an 8' bear carving to be auctioned off Sunday, proceeds going to fight cancer. Quick carve events Fri & Sat where carvers create complete works in one hour will be auctioned off. Proceeds from quick carves to support the artists & the event.

September 30th-October 3rd: The Ninth Annual Brattleboro Literary Festival - Brattleboro, VT
The Festival is a three-day celebration of those who read books, those who write books, and of the books themselves. Located in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont, the Festival includes readings, panel discussions, and special events, featuring emerging and established authors. All events are free.

2nd-3rd: Pumpkin and Apple Celebration and Billings Farm and Museum - Woodstock, VT
Hands-on activities and educational programs highlight these two versatile fall crops. 6th: Yellow Barn Music Festival Presents: The Parker Quartet - Putney, VT

9th-10th: Harvest Weekend at Billings Farm and Museum - Woodstock, VT
A traditional celebration of the harvest featuring a husking bee and farm harvest activities, including: cider pressing, shelling corn, putting food by, and threshing grain. Enjoy hot spiced cider and homemade doughnuts.

10th: Harvest Festival at the Putney School - Putney, VT
Join parents, students and locals for this charming fall tradition. Highlights are the farm parade, cider-making, and fresh food and original crafts by local farmers and artisans. Other events include the Red-Leaf Ramble 5k run, an alumni reception, a sword dance exhibition, an alumni/student soccer game, face-painting and a treasure hunt for kids, and Putney School's first silent auction. This year Putney School is celebrating its 75th Anniversary!

30th: A Family Halloween at Billings Farm and Museum - Woodstock, VT
